The DOUK-DOUK is a legendary knife whose history fills entire books. The “douk-douk” himself is one of the mythical figures of Oceania, it gave the knife its name, and his silhouette still decorates the handle to this day. In 1992, the knife was developed by Gaspard Cognet and initially delivered to Oceania and the French colonies in northern Africa, until it became native all across France. Its construction is simple, but its blade made from fine grained carbon steel can be honed to an extreme sharpness. Gaspard’s grandson Pierre still makes the original today in the same craftsman’s shop where his grandfather used to work.
