Type Deck A-2 Jacket Green BR15156 hand painted

The Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 2(HC-2), aka the “Fleet Angeles”, was established on 1 April 1948 and remained active until disestablished on 30 September 1977. It was a multi-role helicopter squadron of the US Navy based at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Florida. The humorous embroidery patch on the right chest is to commemorate the cruise that their detachment force sailed the Mediterranean between 1970 and 1971 on the USS John F Kennedy (CVA-67). The backside of the jacket became a canvas for soldiers to paint anti-war messages.

The A-2 Deck Jacket was adopted in the first half of the 1960’s as a successor model of the N-1, a jacket for cold weather to protect deck crew working on the deck. While the standard color for the officially adopted A-2deck jacket is olive drab, this jacket was made for civilian use and thus is a navy color unlike that for military use. Perhaps because many of the jackets and coats formally issued to the U.S. Navy color as a show of pride, this jacket too has the orthodox style of such accessoiries issued to the military. Features zip and button closure.

  • Material: 100% Baumwolle/ Heavy cotton
  • Lining: 100% Nylon/ Nylon Pile
