Description
William Gibson Black version of M-65 parka. The shell fabric is the same cotton/nylon fabric as the original O.D. jacket. It is an excellent lightweight yet durable material.
Recognized as the ultimate Field Jacket, the M-65 is an improved and updated model of the previous M-43 and M-51. In the early 1960’s the U.S. Army decided to update its field wearand to develop the new M-65 field Jacket Model. Cotton Satin was used for the back material. While its fundamental design follows conventional models, there are differences in the details. The collar is circular and contains a hoof inside. The cuff was changed from a button type to adjustable Velcro tape, and a flap was added to protect the hands. The drawstring at the waist improves the fit to the body and enhances héat insulation. The M-65 with such improved functionality continued to be employed, and a model with woodland pattern camouflage was adopted in 1980.
